Second Shot is BACK!

Published by Phil at 10:38 am under certification

Trika just posted that everyone’s favorite Second Shot offer is back! Register for Second Shot and breathe easier. If you have problems getting your Second Shot voucher to work, read Trika’s entry or go here. Go get certified!

For those of your new to Microsoft Certification, Second Shot allows you to take any Microsoft exam again if you fail it the first time. For any exam, I suggest moderate studying, registering for the exam with Second Shot, and using the first shot at the exam as a practice test if you don’t pass.

    Hello Phill,

I have just finished the test MB2-633 - Installation and Deployment in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.

I studied through Microsoft Official Curriculum, Implementation Guide and hands-on experience. I think this exam is too hard, compared to what is shown in the reference materials. There where questions that I cand not find the answers in the MOC. I performed 66 out of 100 and and I saw some questions with more than one sentences correct. I guess this exam does not have good preparation materials, especially on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Email router and Redeploying and Upgrading sections. We can’t find reference on some questions. I have three years of experience on Microsoft CRM and I have been working with this tool since 1.2 version, in 2005.

Do you know how can I improve my knowledge to achive success in this hard exam?

    MATTBIONDI,

66 is SO CLOSE. You only need two more correct answers to pass. Can you think of two questions you definitely didn’t know the answer to that you could go back and answer correctly with research?

Be sure to register for a second shot so that you can take it again for free, if you haven’t already.

But other than that, I have no advice. I passed using only the eLearning courseware, so I believe the answers are there, but it took me twice.

    Best of luck,
    Phil

I passed that exam from reading the course materials and experience with the product alone, and in my opinion it was the easiest of the three exams to pass. The hardest is undoubtedly the applications exam, and I’m having my third go at that one next week all being well.

I did all the certifications on 4.0. I must say, it is not easy. But If you active work with CRM 4.0, it shouldn’t really be a problem to pass.
I always had over 90% correct.

So, you 2 are telling me that I am the weird guy here? Please, I am telling the thruth. I studied for about 2 weeks, 4 hours a day. Well, thanks a lot for virtually telling me to not try anymore.

MATTBIONDI, No, Pete’s just really smart. He teaches this stuff. It took me two tries, and then I scraped by with a 72, so I’m not saying you’re weird at all (or maybe we’re both weird.)

I’m definitely not calling you weird, Mattbiondi. The exams are extremely difficult, especially the applications exam (which I have failed twice already - third attempt next week). You have to get yourself into the Microsoft way of thinking, asking yourself which answer *they* feel is “best” rather than what *you* may think is the best. I’ve been teaching MSCRM since version 1.0 and I managed to pass the installation & customization exams with a combination of my existing knowledge of the product combined with readthroughs of the course materials and practices with the labs for classroom purposes, and even then my passes were only in the 70%s. If you do fail, complain to MS by email (the address is on the score report) and if they feel your pain sufficiently they’ll give you a voucher for a free retake.

OK, I will send another email, but I have serious doubt the the email messages do some result, because you are not talking with the exam writers. My major problem is that I can’t figure where to study, because I have covered all topics. I am trying with the E-Learning.

At last I’ve passed the applications exam. Even as a trainer of the product (ran the installation and customization courses last week) who has previously taken this exam twice before it was an absolute swine of a thing. Still, it’s passed now, so I can relax until CRM 5 comes along. Good luck to anyone else who attempts it.
